I’ve mentioned before that it’s difficult to get too far into the holiday spirit at work. You never know when someone will take offence that you’re trying to have fun, whilst they’re having a very difficult time – grief brings up the most bizarre reactions in normally pragmatic people. So I had to admire this Funeral Director’s approach to Christmas Decorations, which we came across in Annan, on our Xmas break 🙂 The lights lit up in sections, but the star seemed to be broken.
We also came across the nativity …
and a lovely carving detail on the Town Hall..
The local stone is a beautiful red sandstone. The fields around the manse we stayed at in Kirkpatrick were full of lumps and pebbles of this stone, to the exclusion of everything else, which seemed rather strange, as in Cheshire we have all sorts of everything thanks to the glacial till.
