After years of bemoaning to all and sundry that nothing really happens up North, in the past few weeks I got to go to two workshops, both held just ten minutes away from home! I only found out about them last month, when I was on one of my biannual shopping trips to Macclesfield and happened to look in the window of our local Mind, Body, Spirit Shop on the way back to the car park.
The first was an intensely challenging and rewarding Shamanic do, held on a farm about two miles away, which is a story for another day. The second, which was last Saturday was a Crystal Healing Workshop led by Judy Hall. Now I have had no experience of crystal healing but I had heard of Judy Hall so I thought it was a wonderful opportunity to look into a subject I knew almost nothing about.
This was the blurb…
“This intensive workshop offers a rare opportunity to work with the author of the Crystal Bible to attune your energies to high vibration, multi-dimensional crystals and to explore their effect on the higher chakras now coming on line. These incredible crystals offer instant access to an energetic healing level unavailable since Atlantean times and an opportunity to expand your consciousness. Tools to facilitate a rapid shift in the earth’s vibration, powerful energy realignment occurs when you are attuned to them. We will use guided meditations, re-patterning, personal and group work in our exploration to bring about profound vibrational change and multidimensional healing. Prior knowledge of crystals will be useful but not essential, it is far more important to bring an open mind and a willingness to explore how you can work with these amazing tools and allow them to interact with your own energies.”
There was a message from Judy in one of the confirmatory emails which gave a list of all sorts of dos and don’ts which really made me take notice. She seemed pretty strict, and threatened all sorts of dire consequences if you were a bit careless with your energy or intent. I was quite worried I had bitten off more than I could chew! I must admit that being a sceptical Druid the mention of Atlantis didn’t do much for me … although I decided in the manner of open mindedness to go with it as a metaphor for some sort of supposed golden age rather an allusion to an actual historical period!
On the day I woke up with a minor headache, which although pretty annoying, wasn’t disabling. So I set off with high hopes. The event was held in a village hall, at one end was a huge stall selling all sorts of wonderful crystal goodies. The event had been organised by Keith from KSC Crystals (who is a lovely fella and who made me up a special bespoke set of amber earring for me a few years ago, using my own silver bee talismans) and this was their trade stand. A table had been set just in front of this with a chair and then there were about fifty chairs set out facing it. There were tea and biscuits which people were helping themselves to, although most of the activity was around the stall where folks were already indulging in retail therapy!
Judy sat at the table at the front and the first session was a devoted to creating a sacred space in which to work, grounding ourselves with the help of drop of a special elixir and them calling on the guides, angels etc to work with us for the highest good. After that we were invited to clear our auras using a newly discovered ‘high frequency’ crystal called Rainbow Mayanite. Keith had managed to get enough pieces for us all to use. Judy suggested that those not used to working with crystals should come out and get someone more experienced to help them so I stood up and made my way to the front. A rather lovely lady called Alison, whom she said, usually worked with angels, and with a sharp knife :O stood next to me while I swept around my aura with the crystal, holding it as far away from me as possible at all times, as directed, and hoping that I wouldn’t jab the person behind me as I worked. After a couple of minutes I got a terrific hot flush and went completely pink. At the end I had to bolt to my seat and have long drink of water. The guy behind me was telling everyone he felt floaty and spaced out ….oh if only!
After a break … more tea and lots more shopping for some … we went on to the second session which was a guided journey with a Brandenberg Amethyst. Keith handed out the crystals, he’d done a good job of sourcing the crystals we worked with, and a lot of people who had been to these type of things before said it was good to actually be able to work with them, rather than just hear about their effects from the course leader, which is what usually happens. I enjoyed the meditation, which involved setting a firm foundation into the iron core of the earth and then travelling up though our chakras to connect with our sun and then one of the stars in the tail of Sagittarius, which is the central point of our galaxy. This caused my logical brain a bit of consternation as I couldn’t work out where Sagittarius was and what it looked like, but when I got over that I was fine. Judy has a version of this meditation on her website.
After lunch (and more shopping for some) we went on a ‘Earth Journey’ guided meditation with two more high frequency crystals, Fire and Ice which is a beautiful clear crystal quartz, fractured by heat in the earth’s crust which causes it to have wonderful rainbows inside, and Trigonic Quartz which is a cloudy crystal with triangular facets – these trianglar markings are apparently appearing more and more on other types of crystals as the earth begins it entry to a higher spiritual state. Judy told us that these crystals were previously ‘space beings’ who had escaped from a galactic war by hiding in these crystals but which now wish to make themselves known to us. She has worked with them to help heal the planet, most especially with the Mexico Gulf oil spill.
After another break, and more shopping (!) we had two ten minute talks from ladies who will be giving workshops next year, one was an NLP practitioner and the other was the Angel Lady. After this we went on to a practical hands on session in groups. I was with three other ladies who like me, had very little –or no – experience of Crystal Healing. All around us people were putting up portable therapy tables and getting started, but we were quite frankly bemused at what we we were supposed to do. Ideally I think we could have done with at least a couple of example grids, with suggested crystals, rather than being told to ‘go play’ and it would have been nice if Judy could have come round and supervised. In the end we all had a little go with crystals we recognised from Keith’s stall. I complained about my headache and one of the ladies offered to do some healing with the crystals. I declined the quartz points – too amplifying! – and instead was surrounded by amethysts and grounded at the feet by obsidian. I wish I could remember her name as she was lovely and did a good job. I could feel the headache shifting. I just wish I could have stayed there longer! Very interestingly she saw the cause of my headache as a black cloud at the back of my neck, 10/10 for diagnosing the degenerating spine which causes these referred head aches if I don’t stay flexible enough!
Towards the end of this session people began slipping away, despite having been told by Judy that she wanted ground us all before we left. Some of the ladies complained that there was too much talking around them to concentrate while they were lying down. Certainly this, and the lack of individual attention, was one of the drawbacks of having such a large group of people. I think I may have benefitted from doing a bit of prep work beforehand, looking back perhaps I should have spent a bit of time reading Judy’s website which has lots of hand outs and exercises on it, as she seemed to presume we all had a good working knowledge of using crystals, whereas the lady sat next to me and I just knew we loved them.
All in all I enjoyed the day, I managed to avoid the urge to buy every crystal Judy recommended there and then, although I’m sure Keith was grateful a most of the others couldn’t! I do have a list of some that I would like to get come pay day. The higher vibrational crystals we worked with were amazingly expensive. the Rainbow Mayanite piece were between 45 – 150 pounds, the Brandenbergs around 40, the Fire and Ice 59+ and the Trigonic Quartz 70+. the Mayanite comes from a single mine in the Rockies and the Brandenbergs are hand picked from the top soil in a remote area of Namibia (where two major ley lines meet) so that would push the price up I suppose. I did get a copy of her latest book which looks interesting, although the Crystal fans making such a to do about the power of the rocks used in ancient monuments all of a sudden is rather amusing, us Druid types have been saying it for years!
The next morning I began to feel really ill. The headache was back, I had the runs and the vomits, and when this wore off I began with a sore throat, a runny nose and a cough. all of which seem to have sped through my body with supersonic speed. What I would like to know is … is this a physical reaction to the chakra and aura cleansing and ‘crystal reprogramming’ of the day before, or just a result of being crammed in a hot stuffy hall with fifty odd other people and their germs all afternoon?
