Bracken and I didn’t make the Setantii Alban Hefin ritual, having been all ‘solsticed out’ at Glastonbury. Luckily Craig was willing to step in and start off the arrangements and everyone chipped in to help. It sounds as if the tribe had a wonderful gathering and Craig has kindly sent a write up for the blog.
Last Saturday the Setantii met to celebrate Alban Hefin. I helped to facilitate the ritual, and the main body was put together by Wendy and Guy. The weather forecast had been saying rain all week. so we were prepared to get a little damp, but the Gods did not let us down and other than a few drops at the beginning, the ritual was held in beautiful sunshine! That’s the power of the Bards for you!
We all processed in, and as we were all being solemn, a squirrel decided to be brave and help himself to some bread Lynn had brought to mark Earth! Needless to say we all burst out laughing. After the herald had welcomed us, I asked each of the quarters to speak for their element, Lynn, Anne, Jo and Wendy all said a few words that were really meaningful and powerful and really helped to center the elements into our circle.
The ritual was really moving, with the symbolic hand fasting of the God and Goddess, followed by a message that we are their stewards on this Earth and should treat it with respect and reverence. After the ritual we shared some cakes, mead, and dandelion wine, and got better acquainted with some new faces. Those pesky fairies were up to their old tricks again, this time stealing Frances’ hat! After a little offering of wine, and a group hunt, it was found over the far side of the Grove. All in all a most enjoyable afternoon was had by all, celebrating midsummer with our spiritual family.
