That there had been a life size inflatable Stonehenge constructed as a joint venture between Glasgow’s International Festival of Visual Art and the Olympics seemed to have passed me by – there is an old article about it on the Guardian website that you can find here. It was designed by the artist Jeremy Teller (a Turner prize winner) and is fully interactive – you can get on it and bounce! If you read the article, make sure you read the comments too, as there is quite a bit of entertaining artistic snobbery going on, but as one person says:
‘ Art can be a bouncy castle, and a bouncy castle can be art. People bouncing on the bouncy castle can also be art.’
It’s going to be displayed at the Olympic Venue, so if you want a bounce get down to London during the games. What happens to it afterwards was addressed on last weeks BBC’s Radio 4 Friday Night Comedy:
There is talk in the Setantii of adopting this song as our theme tune! I can imagine Paul and Damh adding this to their repertoire too. So refreshing to have something nice said about Druids in the media!
