Our Imbolc ceremony last Saturday was cancelled due to the terrible wind and rain. It is one thing to get caught out in a shower but quite another to plough through a howling gale to the park, knowing that you will have to stand out in it for a couple of hours when you get there!
After having mulled over the rite, produced the script, printed off copies, stocked up on new fancy hurricane lamps and scoured the local garden centres and florists for snowdrops it was a bit of a disappointment to say the least, especially as it’s been such a long time since we all got together as a group.
The festival itself is one of fire and water, summed up by the image of the forge and the hearth. This year it seems the emphasis was on the water! Despite the snow and ice we have had a very dry winter!
Rosemary reminded us of this when she posted her wonderful water poem on our facebook group (search for the Setantii Seed Group to join)
“So sorry its been called off, but hope you all are blessed by your individual rituals. (I’d noticed very low water levels in local stream – our land was thirsty!) I wrote this water blessing a couple of weeks ago working with water and was going to bring it with me today: “
In the ripples of the lakes and the tides of the sea may we receive all we need for wholeness and give what hurts and harms us.
May our tears, our pains and fears be diluted in the vastness of the healing ocean.
From the stillness of a tranquil pool may clarity of thought, deep peace and refreshing be ours.
May we know from the power of the mighty waterfalls all the strength and vitality we need.
From the wellspring; a pure heart, all the love and healing we need.
